Big names and important causes were the order of the day at back-to-back events last weekend. First up was Oscar Night America-Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Centre on Sunday, Feb. 22. Among the stars who showed up at the red-carpet event to benefit the Center for Family Resources were “Madea Goes to Jail” actress Keisha Knight Pulliam (the former Rudy Huxtable looked very grown up indeed); music industry veteran and philanthropist Dr. Bobbie Bailey; and former Congressman Bob Barr with his wife Jeri, CEO for the CFR.
The next night, it was on to the Turning Power to Pain Tour at the Carter Center Dr. Denis Mukwege and “Vagina Monologues” author Eve Ensler headlined the evening, in support of V-Day and UNICEF’S efforts on behalf of victims of rape and mutilation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Among the luminaries present were Spanx founder Sara Blakely, Vikki Locke of B-98.5,
Ted Turner (pictured) and Elizabeth Dewberry, actress Vanessa Vadim and the Captain Planet Foundation’s Laura Turner Seydel.
