HOLY TACO!

Eatery Raises the Bar in East Atlanta

Authentic Latin American cuisine made from only fresh, natural ingredients and a Glenwood Avenue home characterized by a stylish modern décor, Holy Taco brings a new scene to East Atlanta Village. The full-service restaurant welcomes diners with upbeat music, delicious fare and enticing drinks. Even better, it provides a family-friendly environment that is a cut above what EAV regulars might expect.

CONCEPT:

Holy Taco originated with Partner Robert MacDonald’s research travels to places like California and New York and the realization that Atlanta did not have enough taquerias. “The food is simple and fun, and everybody loves tacos,” says MacDonald. While the eatery is conveniently located in East Atlanta Village, it has a character all its own. From the expansive patio covered by a shade-imparting arbor to the clean, light-filled interior enclosed with mint-green walls and orange banquettes, the atmosphere at Holy Taco is inviting to all ages.

MENU: MacDonald called on Chef Robert Phalen to create the Holy Taco menu. Phalen, who had traveled throughout South America, has incorporated traditional items from places like Peru and Columbia into the heavily Mexican-influenced menu. Making dishes like shrimp cocktail, arepas (cornmeal cakes), tortas (Mexican sandwiches served on ciabatta), elote asado (whole roasted corn) and of course tacos, Phalen uses only hormone and antibiotic-free meats, the freshest vegetables and all-natural ingredients. In fact, the only ingredient that comes from a can would be the pickled jalapenos.

BEVERAGES: Boasting a 20-ft. stainless steel bar, Holy Taco offers more than 30 high-end tequilas and a unique sangria with plums, oranges and peaches. In keeping with the all-natural theme, the bar also serves organic margaritas. For the younger set, organic apple juice and milk are found on the drink menu.

PLAYERS:
Together, MacDonald and Partner Zoë Cernut have more than 30 years experience in the Atlanta restaurant and bar industry. Chef Phalen came to Holy Taco via heavy-hitters in the local chef restaurant arena including Mumbo Jumbo, Midcity Cuisine and Alon’s.

Holy Taco is located at 1314 Glenwood Avenue SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30316 and can be reached at 404-230-6177 or visited online at www.holy-taco.com. Look for the large patio just east of the intersection at Flat Shoals. Parking is available behind the building and across the street.
