SP100: Style
Atlanta’s It List 2009

STARR LUNA
WHY: It’s rare to find a T-shirt that inspires creativity, stirs the imagination and makes you look damn sexy. Luckily, the super-soft, often-organic tees from Starr Luna do all three.
WHERE: www.starrluna.com.
JACQUELINE SANCHEZ
WHY: Lauded by the American Craft Council, JacQueline Sanchez fashions her thoroughly original and modern pieces of jewelry with anything from Legos to sterling silver, Argentine silver, 14kt and 18kt yellow gold, platinum and copper.
WHERE: www.jacquelinesanchez.com.
FAB’RIK
WHY: No, it’s not because we saw the Real Housewives shopping there! With so many trendy items under $100, this hot boutique is a go-to for fashionistas and recessionistas. Plus, a limited quantity of each item means NeNe and Lisa won’t show up to the W in matching outfits.
WHERE: Multiple locations. www.shopfabrikboutique.com.
LUXE
WHY: Is Luxe a chic boutique with fab finds for men and women? Yes. Is it a fashion event space that hosts swanky designer cocktail parties and exclusive trunk shows? Yes. Can we resist stopping in anytime we pass the West Midtown shop? Nope!
WHERE: 1000 Marietta St. 404-815-7470. www.luxeatlanta.com.
JAC
WHY: Walking into this chic Inman Park boutique feels like stepping into a list of fashionista/owner Jaci Effron's favorite things. Everything in the shop—from the James jeans to the Avril Loreti cocktail napkins and the plush Cate & Levi toys—is like a handpicked gift from Effron herself. Just remember, you still have to pay.
WHERE: 245 N. Highland Ave. 404-681-4696. www.dearjac.com.
LILA
WHY: Shopping at Lila is like shopping at a totally high-end, super trendy specialty boutique along the lines of Intermix … only we can actually afford the clothes. Bonus!
WHERE: 240 N. Highland Ave. 404-584-5452.
SUSHI STYLE
WHY: These sushi-inspired ottomans allow us to combine two of our favorite things—sushi and putting our feet up—without sounding like gluttonous sloths. Talk about a win-win!
WHERE: 404-387-9186. www.sushistyle.com.
MERINGUE
WHY: You’ve gotta love two girls with a dream! Owners Jordan Chadwell and Nicole Raithel bonded over their experiences as shop girls in D.C., and brought their passion for retail to the ATL. Along with some pretty saucy threads and totally hot Frye boots.
WHERE: 1393 N. Highland Ave. 404-724-0960. www.meringueboutique.net.
SMART GLASS JEWELRY
WHY: Ever wanted jewelry that was 100 percent unique? Look no further. Kathleen Plate, an Atlanta-based jewelry maker, learned to recycle used glass to create art, even from Coca-Cola bottles. Using a combination of vibrantly colored stained glass, silver solder and sterling silver, she crafts everything by hand.
WHERE: www.smartglassjewelry.com.
SANDPIPER
WHY: Owner Melissa Murdock’s eye for colorful feminine silhouettes and dedication to her Southern roots make Sandpiper a fashionable favorite. A stylista’s sartorial dream come true, Sandpiper has a trend-savvy inventory that includes labels like Rebecca Taylor, Tibi, Milly, Nanette Lepore, Alice & Olivia and Ella Moss.
WHERE: Vinings Jubilee, 4300 Paces Ferry Road, 770-433-2989 or City Walk, 227 Sandy Springs Place, 404-255-7878. www.shopsandpiper.com.
