Atlanta’s It List 2009

SP100

United we stand, divided we fall, right? Though there’s plenty of division in Atlanta, be it due to the mayoral selection, football team support or choice of religion, we’ve got heaps in common with each other. Who doesn’t love to laugh with their co-workers about the antics on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and then rush home to catch the latest episode? And who doesn’t feel all warm and fuzzy when seeing the panda exhibit at Zoo Atlanta? We know you get all up in arms when the subject of Michael Vick comes up, and we hope you’re just as heated as we are about the recent treatment of some of our disabled police officers.

From newsmakers, scoundrels and scandals, ambassadors and restaurateurs to movie moguls, athletes and fitness gurus, there’s a lot to talk about in Atlanta, which is why, every year, we cultivate a list of the top people, places and things in this diverse city. It’s a snapshot of what’s worth discussing—either for the first time or for the zillionth time (some stories just won’t go away, no matter how much we plead).

This September marks our fifth year of successfully reporting the good, the bad, the funny and the ugly, so this SP100 is extra special to us. We hope you enjoy reading our fifth annual SP100 as much as we’ve enjoyed cooking it up. SP
